Through the dimming mists of the Bitter Mountains a candle burns in a small, wooden cabin. Born in a time of peace, the Runecaster lives & works within a small community of traders, unable to grow many of their own crops in the cold and harsh environments of the far North. The Runecaster's knowledge of the sea, fishing and of mining rare metals, hewn from ancient rock, are essential to the prosperity of his people.

Rumours are spreading of the King's conspiracy to destroy & steal from the peaceful mountain folk and tensions increase as more black flag pirate ships are allowed to pass through from the Scarlet Kingdom to ruin & plunder their age-old trade routes.

The Runecaster sets off with a small party of 4 adventurers in an attempt to open dialogue & seek advice from the mysterious & isolated sea people located across the bleak Dyrne Pass, west of the mountains. It's here that the party learns of a hidden object of great archaeological interest which is said to be located on a small island past the Sword Shores.
